All about the horse bridle
The bit may be the most important thing that comes with the bridle. The bit is put in the horses mouth, so if you have a gentle bit, like the egg butt snaffle, you probably have a horse with a problem with its mouth or a really sensitive horse. If you use a rougher bit, like the gag bit, you probably have lots of experience with riding and have soft hands. A hackamore does not have a bit, instead it has pressure points around the face area. If your horse is agitated by the bit this what experience riders usually choose. Be careful when choosing your hackamore because some hackamores are incredible harsh.

Snaffle bits are the most gentlest bits to use. If you are just starting riding if you pay attention to the bit, your instructor will probably have snaffle bits for school horses. if you have a green horse that is rough and doesn't have as much discipline, you probably using a more rough bit. Now that you can judge what bit you may want, you have to pay attention to size. You don't want a bit that your horse can swallow when it goes in the mouth, but you don't want a bit that's so incredible large your horse has to open its mouth wide just to get it in. A helpful tip when choosing a bit, just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's good.
